Hi. My name is Billy O’Sullivan and I’m managing partner of Kauai Real Estate. I’m also a proud member of the board of the Wilcox Health Foundation. I have parents here on the North Shore of Kauai who are retired so naturally health care is really important to me.
I thought you’d like to learn a little about Wilcox too. There is a LOT of info here, so I’ve broken it down to bite size pieces in alphabetical order. Sometimes the best thing is to actually get a tour. If you’d like that feel free to contact me and we will get you in to see Wilcox first hand and answer any of your specific questions.
I’ll start by saying this… For our community here on the Garden Island, this is a remarkable place! Wilcox Memorial has national recognition includes being ranked among the top 10 percent in the country for outstanding patient experience.
Here are the specialties of Wilcox.
At Wilcox, anesthesiologists and certified registered nurse anesthetists provide anesthesia and pain management for hospital patients and outpatient surgeries and procedures. Developments in anesthetic techniques provide the anesthesia care team with many options to treat patients, while ensuring their maximum safety and comfort.
The Cardiology Department at Wilcox offers a full range of adult, non-invasive cardiovascular services, such as stress testing, echocardiography and pacemaker monitoring. Through the collaborative efforts of our cardiologists, Kaua‘i residents can also benefit from having their diagnostic and/or interventional (stent) cardiac catheterization performed at sister facility Straub Clinic & Hospital, scheduled through the Wilcox-Straub Concierge Program. At each phase of care, doctors on either island can view medical and testing information to ensure a comprehensive approach to cardiac care. Additionally, we are fortunate to have a new cardiac rehab lab in which patients are able to receive specifically designed treatment plans that focus on their own unique conditions and limitations. The cardiac rehab lab utilizes exercise treadmills, exercise bikes, cross trainers and free weights.
The Wilcox Emergency Department is staffed by Kaua‘i physicians and specially trained personnel 24 hours a day to treat immediate medical emergencies. It is a Level III Trauma Center that boasts a spacious triage area, a waiting area that accommodates 30 people, 20 beds and a host of new equipment, including a new central monitoring system. A high-tech communication system allows medical staff to communicate with emergency medical teams en route to the hospital. This system also provides a communication link with triage centers on O‘ahu. Patients with major trauma and head injuries are transferred to O‘ahu tertiary care centers via air ambulance.
